Welcome to my website. Welcome to The Rock and Fossil Shop.

This new business venture of mine was ‘born’ in late 2012. I have been a collector of mineral specimens for over 30 years. Just like most other collectors it all started when I was very young collecting pebbles on a beach. I couldn’t wait to smash them with a hammer to see the glistening minerals inside, and wonder how and why all these rocks were different.

Although I started my collection in these early days, fate decided that I would not get a chance to explore this passion further until 1995 when I grabbed the opportunity to study Geology, as a mature student, at Durham University. I had three fantastic years studying the wonders of planet Earth. A 12 year career as a professional geologist quickly came and went. After much soul searching in 2012 I decided to follow my passion and my dream of starting a retail rock, fossil and mineral business to share that enthusiasm with other like minded people and also to try to inspire the children to take an interest in the world around them and beneath their feet.
Please take a look around the website and especially my new online sales. I cannot put all of my stock on the website so if there isn’t an item here you want then please contact me as I might have it in the shop and can still arrange to post it out to you. At the moment I can only accept Paypal. The online shop also gives you the option to buy online and then collect from the shop so you can save on unnecessary postage costs. Please note that not all of the items for sale online are actually in the shop. So if you want to view an item before purchasing then please let me know and I can make sure that it is available for you in the shop.

Feel free to contact me if you are seeking a specific item or an original gift.

Why not come and pay me a visit at Unit 60 in The Indoor Market (bottom right hand corner) in the beautiful City of Durham? I have lots of mineral specimens, fossils, crystals and polished stone gift items on display. I look forward to seeing you there.
