Burmese Cretaceous Amber – UV Reactive

Burmese Cretaceous Amber is much older and rarer than both Baltic amber & Dominican amber.

Warm honey-gold and rich orange tones give this Burmese Cretaceous amber a beautiful glow, with darker internal markings adding depth and individual character. The polished, rounded surfaces reveal translucent areas that catch the light, making these fascinating pieces a distinctive addition to an amber or fossil collection.

Under UV light, the amber takes on a striking blue to blue-white fluorescence, creating a dramatic contrast with its warm colouring in ordinary light. The photographs show its appearance in both lighting conditions.

Physical Properties

  • Material: Amber, fossilised tree resin rather than a crystalline mineral.
  • Age: Cretaceous Period ~ 66-145 million year old
  • Colour: Honey-yellow to golden orange, with darker internal features.
  • UV reaction: Blue to blue-white fluorescence, as shown in the photographs.

Geology & Formation

Amber begins as tree resin, which becomes preserved and gradually transforms over geological time. This amber is identified as Burmese and Cretaceous, connecting it with the ancient forests of what is now Myanmar. Internal markings and variations offer fascinating details to explore with a magnifying glass.

Crystal Properties

In crystal traditions, amber is associated with warmth, positivity and grounding. Some people use it as a symbolic focus for calm reflection and a connection with nature. These are traditional beliefs rather than scientifically established effects.

Product Details & Care

  • Polished Burmese Cretaceous amber with distinctive internal markings.
  • Suitable for fossil enthusiasts, amber collectors and UV-reactive displays.
  • Coins in the photographs are shown for scale only.
  • Handle gently and clean with a soft cloth. Avoid prolonged heat, harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners.

Amber is a natural material, so colour, clarity, shape and internal features can vary between pieces. Fluorescence may appear different depending on the UV light used, surrounding lighting and photography.
