Genuine natural rough Citrine points from Zambia, South Africa, presenting in its raw, unpolished state with all the warmth and character of an authentic earth-formed crystal. Geology & Formation

Natural Citrine is a variety of quartz whose yellow to golden colouration arises from trace amounts of iron incorporated into the crystal lattice during formation, combined in some cases with natural irradiation from surrounding rock. It forms in hydrothermal veins and granite pegmatites, often found alongside amethyst and smoky quartz. Genuinely natural Citrine is relatively rare compared to the heat-treated amethyst that dominates the commercial market — South African material is particularly prized for its soft, smoky golden tones and well-formed natural points, which display the trigonal crystal habit of quartz with minimal treatment or intervention.
