Geology & Formation

Fluorite forms as a hydrothermal mineral in veins associated with granites and other igneous rocks, as well as in sedimentary limestone environments. The deep blue-purple “blueberry” coloration is among the rarer and more sought-after natural colour variants, influenced by trace rare earth elements and the conditions under which the crystals grew. Significant sources of deeply coloured blue-purple Fluorite include deposits in China and parts of South America, where slow crystal growth in mineral-rich fluids produces the intense saturation collectors prize.
