Geology & Formation
Kyanite is an aluminium silicate mineral that forms under high-pressure metamorphic conditions, typically within schists and gneisses. Its distinctive bladed crystal habit and pronounced directional hardness — one of the few minerals with significantly different hardness on different axes — make it immediately recognisable. The Aura treatment involves bonding vaporised precious metals (such as titanium or platinum) to the surface of natural Kyanite blades in a vacuum chamber at high temperature, creating the permanent iridescent effect without altering the underlying mineral structure.
