Moss Agate Crystal Sphere – 65mm
A miniature landscape in stone, this moss agate sphere brings together deep forest-green inclusions, soft grey tones and sweeping patches of milky white. Branching, moss-like patterns weave through the stone, while small natural cavities reveal sparkling crystal-lined surfaces. Its polished curves contrast beautifully with these textured pockets, giving you something different to discover as you turn the sphere.
At approximately 65mm in diameter, it makes an eye-catching addition to a mineral collection, desk or favourite display space, especially for anyone drawn to woodland colours and natural patterns.
Physical Properties
Moss agate is a variety of chalcedony, a microcrystalline form of quartz with a hardness of approximately 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale. Its characteristic moss-like inclusions are mineral formations rather than preserved plants. This sphere combines a glossy polished surface with natural open pockets and areas of contrasting opacity.
Geology & Formation
Moss agate forms as silica-rich fluids deposit chalcedony within cavities and fractures in rock. Mineral inclusions become enclosed within the silica, creating branching patterns reminiscent of moss, foliage and miniature landscapes. The photographs show green inclusions, cloudy white areas and small crystal-lined cavities within this piece.
Crystal Properties
In crystal traditions, moss agate is associated with grounding, patience, fresh beginnings and a connection to nature. It is often chosen as a symbolic reminder to slow down and approach personal growth steadily. These associations are spiritual beliefs rather than scientifically proven effects.
