Weardale Green Fluorite Specimen
A richly detailed green fluorite cluster from Diana Maria Mine in Frosterley, Weardale, County Durham. This specimen features a spread of intergrown cubic crystals across a broad, irregular matrix, with larger green cubes rising among a scattering of smaller crystals.
Revealingl deep forest-green interiors, paler translucent edges and grey-green reflective faces. Some crystals show cloudy internal areas, while others catch the light along their flat faces and angular edges. The earthy brown and beige matrix contrasts beautifully with the green crystals, creating a miniature mineral landscape with something new to notice from every angle. A characterful piece for a British mineral collection or a display shelf.
This specimen is UV reactive, offering another feature to explore under ultraviolet light.

Geology & Formation
Fluorite forms when mineral-rich fluids deposit calcium fluoride in veins and cavities within rock. Its cubic crystal structure produces the distinctive block-like shapes visible in this specimen. Diana Maria Mine in Frosterley lies within the renowned Weardale mineral district in County Durham.
Crystal Properties
In crystal traditions, green fluorite is associated with balance, clarity and renewal. Some believe it may help with focus and encourage a sense of calm, making it a meaningful addition to a quiet workspace or meditation area. These associations are spiritual beliefs rather than scientifically established effects.
